contribute is adding .LCK

I am publishing to my ftp which by all accounts is set up correctly. then when I go to see it cannont be displayed.
I go to host, and check my filemanager there and all the files have an added .LCK on the end.
I am at my wits end. I called my host and they said it is coming from my end.

help please
