Changing Index page

I am new to Contribute. I had previously designed a website and recently opened it in Contribute to update it. The problem is I don't like the original index page and redesigned the whole site (previously it was just one page - now there are a few with more coming) I cannot seem to change the index page or delete the index page - I called the second page index1 and added this to the webserver index names - deleting the index.htm name - this did not work.

Any help will be appreciated
